Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) allegedly attended a musical Thursday evening in Detroit while hundreds of thousands remain without power.

A source tells The Midwesterner Whitmer attended “Jagged Little Pill” at the Fisher Theatre and even posed for a photo to memorialize the event with some other attendees:

“Met the Governor, I can now say I have the key to the city,” Instagram user yofavv.n404 posted Friday afternoon from neighboring Dearborn. The post showed Whitmer — decked out in a turquoise leather jacket — posing with two women at the musical featuring 1990s tunes by Canadian rocker Alanis Morissette.

Whitmer attendance coincided with hundreds of Michiganders sitting in the dark and cold after an ice storm “cut power to about 700,000 homes and businesses, closed schools and offices, suspended the QLINE, delayed air travel, caused car crashes and killed a firefighter in Paw Paw, who was electrocuted,” the Detroit Free Press reported.

DTE hopes to have power restored “by Sunday,” a goal also sought by Consumers Energy.
