An illegal immigrant from Venezuela was foiled by the English language when he allegedly attempted to rob an Ohio bank.

Sandusky police say the man walked into the bank and sat down with a phone in hand.

The man was “apparently unable to speak English,” Fox 59 reported, “so he typed in demands in a translator app in his phone.”

“Get the money, put it in the bank,” the message allegedly was to the teller.

Sandusky police identified the man as 20-year-old Yeixon Brito-Gonzalez from Venezuela and “may be in the country illegally,” according to Fox 8.

“We have no way to tell if he is here legally or not,” Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver said. “But he has no proof of identification.”

“I have been in law enforcement for over 20 years and this is the first time I encountered something like this, someone using a translator app to try and rob a bank,” Oliver said. “First time our officers have dealt with it too.”
