Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is making a cringe attempt to court Gen Z voters for Vice President Kamala Harris, releasing an X video on Monday few who are actually eligible to vote will even understand.
“Live, laugh, elect @KamalaHarris,” Whitmer posted, along with a video that has since garnered 1.2 million views.

“I’m here with volunteers, and they’re cooking with gas,” Whitmer said in the video.
“This slaps hella,” she said, drinking a smoothie.
“That house party just slayed,” she added, toting a campaign sign.

Phone in hand, the governor continued at a desk in front of Pennsylvania for Harris-Walz signs: “I’m calling voters today, rizzing them up.”
“Trump wants to ship union jobs overseas,” she said, holding up a Harris-Walz campaign sign. “Not chill.”
Munching chicken nuggets: “This is gas.”
In an office: “Trump wants to cut taxes for billionaires.
“I’m leaving the chat,” Whitmer said.
She also worked in “no cap” as she pointed to a silly cat banner, and claimed “I’m Swifty AF” while posing with bracelets by an outdoor Harris-Walz sign.
“It’s giving the next president,” she concluded, pointing to another Harris-Walz sign.
The video is the 53-year-old governor’s latest attempt to play it cool on social media, following similar stunts to connect with Gen Z voters in July.
“#HotInfrastructureSummer is here, and everyone knows that strong, reliable infrastructure is real hot girl sh–,” Whitmer posted to X, along with a fire emoji and a video reiterating her unfulfilled campaign promise to “fix the damn roads.”

“Michigan, we’re turning up the heat with some serious infrastructure projects. This season we’re taking our commitment to fixing the damn roads, pipes, bridges and everything in between to the next level,” Whitmer said over a dance beat in the video.
“We’re rolling up our sleeves and continuing our work on critical infrastructure that keeps our state moving. From smoother roads to stronger bridges to clean reliable water systems, we’re bringing the heat and making sure Michigan’s infrastructure is built to last,” she continued.
“Stay tuned and stay excited,” Whitmer advised. “Hot infrastructure summer is here, and we’re just getting started.”
Other social media antics have included Whitmer’s “Governor Barbie” campaign last year that featured a “Lil’ Gretch” lookalike cruising the state in a vintage pink Corvette to tout the governor’s policies on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and Facebook.
“Lil’ Gretch was a way for us to communicate with people the good important work we’re doing in government, but also to make it current and fun,” Whitmer said in a red carpet interview at the 28th Annual Webby Awards in New York City in May. “So, she’s been great.”
When presented with her Webby Award, Whitmer used her favorite approach to connecting with the next generation: profanity.
Her five-word acceptance speech: “Wear pink. Get shit done.”
