When it comes to the proposed Chinese Communist Party-affiliated electric-vehicle battery manufacturing plant outside Big Rapids, U.S. Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin is late to the opposition party. In fact, Slotkin was for it before she was against it.
Former U.S. ambassadors Joseph Cella and Pete Hoekstra head the Michigan-China Economic and Security Review Group, which posted on X that Slotkin has radically reversed her position on the controversial plant that has elicited national rancor from the Republican presidential ticket of former President Donald Trump and his vice presidential running mate Sen. JD Vance.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
It appears @ElissaSlotkin has done an about face on her past support and signing of a binding and punitive NDA for the corrupted "deal" with PRC-based and CCP-tied @Gotion48660.👇

“Government and business elites led by @GovWhitmer @MEDC @QuentinMesserJr @rthelen (The Right Place) @ferrisstate (Pres. Bill Pink) ignored a directive from our national security and intelligence agencies and did zero due diligence on this ‘deal’ even though it fit the profile of a subnational incursion and influence operation, and presents a national security threat,” Cella and Hoekstra continued.

Slotkin is conducting a tight race for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow against Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers. For his part, Rogers has stated his staunch opposition to Gotion, including in an interview conducted two weeks ago with The Midwesterner.
Conversely, Slotkin had previously signed a nondisclosure agreement with what was then called Project Elephant.
“Slotkin sold out Michigan auto workers to China, signed an NDA to conceal it, and Chinese foreign agents rewarded her with cash,” Rogers for Senate Communications Director Chris Gustafson told The Midwesterner in a text. “Slotkin cannot hide her record of helping the CCP, and this blatant flip-flop is just further proof that she’ll say whatever the polling recommends and can’t be trusted.”
